Executive coaching in Queensland

Executive Coaching that sharpens how you lead, decide, and grow

Most leadership programs hand you frameworks. We sit beside you while you apply them to the real decisions on your desk this week. That is the difference between theory and traction.

Why this practice exists

I started Exec Strategic Focus after spending twelve years inside corporate leadership teams across finance, mining, and healthcare. I watched talented executives stall, not because they lacked skill, but because nobody gave them a structured space to think out loud with someone who understood the pressures they faced.

My coaching method combines applied behavioural psychology with practical strategy work. Each session is 75 minutes. We open with a review of what happened since our last conversation, then move into the live challenge you are wrestling with right now. I ask hard questions. You leave with a concrete next step, not a motivational quote.

I am based in Sebastianborough, Queensland, and coach leaders across Australia by video or in person. The engagement typically runs for six months, because real behavioural change needs repetition and accountability over time.

What we work on together

Each engagement is shaped around your context. Below are the four areas where clients see the fastest return.

Leadership identity and presence

We clarify what kind of leader you want to be, then close the gap between that intention and how others actually experience you. This includes 360-degree feedback interpretation, stakeholder interviews, and rehearsal of high-stakes conversations before they happen.

Strategic decision-making

Executives often know what to do but struggle with when and how to commit. We use structured decision frameworks, scenario mapping, and pre-mortem analysis to build your confidence in high-ambiguity situations. You will make fewer reactive calls and more deliberate ones.

Team performance and delegation

If you are the bottleneck, your team cannot grow. We redesign how you delegate, give feedback, and run your direct reports. Clients typically reclaim five to eight hours per week within the first two months by shifting work they were holding unnecessarily.

Transition coaching

Stepping into a new role, a new company, or a board seat comes with a 90-day window where impressions solidify. We build a detailed transition plan: who to meet first, what to say, which early wins to pursue, and which inherited problems to leave alone until you have earned trust.

How an engagement unfolds

No long proposals or committee approvals. Three phases, clear milestones, and a standing rhythm that fits your calendar.

Discovery call (30 min, free)

We talk about what brought you here, what success looks like in six months, and whether my approach fits your style. If it does, I send a simple engagement letter the same day.

Deep assessment (weeks 1–3)

I review your current role scope, interview two or three of your key stakeholders (with your permission), and administer a leadership behaviour inventory. This gives us a baseline, not a label.

Ongoing coaching (months 2–6)

We meet fortnightly for 75-minute sessions. Between sessions you have email access for quick questions. At the three-month mark we do a mid-point review to adjust focus areas based on what has shifted.

Credentials and background

I hold a Master of Organisational Psychology (University of Queensland, 2008) and am a credentialed coach through the International Coaching Federation at the PCC level. Before launching this practice, I served as Head of People and Performance for a publicly listed resources company, where I coached the CEO and seven general managers through a two-year restructure.

I have completed advanced training in cognitive behavioural coaching, motivational interviewing, and the Hogan Assessment suite. I do not use personality tests as entertainment. When I use an assessment, it connects directly to a specific development goal we have already agreed on.

My clients include CEOs, CFOs, general managers, and senior public servants across Queensland and New South Wales. Roughly half come through referral from previous clients. The other half find me through professional networks or their organisation's HR team.

Questions people ask before starting

The standard engagement is $12,000 AUD plus GST for six months. That includes the initial assessment, twelve fortnightly coaching sessions, stakeholder interviews, and between-session email support. I invoice monthly. Some organisations pay from their L&D budget; I can provide the documentation your finance team needs.
Yes. About 70% of my current clients meet by video. The quality of the conversation is the same. I use a secure, encrypted platform and send calendar invites with the link ahead of each session. In-person sessions are available in the greater Brisbane area.
That is common. I set up a three-way alignment meeting with you, your manager or HR partner, and myself. We agree on broad development goals. Everything discussed inside sessions stays confidential; I only share progress themes you have approved. This protects trust while keeping the sponsor informed.
I offer a focused three-session package for leaders dealing with a single, time-bound issue, such as preparing for a board presentation, navigating a restructure announcement, or handling a difficult termination. The fee is $3,200 AUD plus GST and sessions are scheduled within four weeks.
At the start we define two or three observable outcomes: things other people would notice if you changed. At the mid-point I re-interview your stakeholders to check whether those shifts are visible. If they are not, we adjust. You also complete a brief self-assessment at months one, three, and six so we can track your own sense of progress.

Start a conversation

If you are considering coaching, the first step is a short phone call or email. No obligation, no pitch deck. I will listen to what is going on and tell you honestly whether I can help.
